Position Description
The Freelance interpreter executes to the needs and demands of the Lionbridge Federal division’s staff and clients. The freelance interpreter function is responsible for the delivery of high quality interpretation services as assigned by the Lionbridge Federal Regional Project Coordinator. You will be an integral part of the production team involved with client facing during assignment, providing a high level of customer service, and working with your Project Coordinator to ensure superior and timely delivery of interpretation to and from English. You will interact with and be supported by a team of Recruiters and Quality Assurance professionals to see you through the Lionbridge Federal qualification process. Both on-site and telephonic work is available.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality interpretation to Lionbridge Federal clients
- Track/manage a number of cases offered, confirmed, and assigned to you
- Provide your Regional Project Coordinator with upfront information on availability for assignment and vacation schedules
- Submit all expense and provided Accounting documentation to Lionbridge Federal for processing
Required Skills/Background
- Fluency in English and target language
- US citizen or Permanent Resident
- At least 18 years of age
- Resided within the US for three of the past five years
US Department of Justice (DOJ) Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) Contract Interpreter qualification process:
Lionbridge is the proud recipient of the U.S. Department of Justice, EOIR contract for language interpretation services. This contract provides face-to-face interpretation and over-the-phone interpretation to all immigration courts in the United States in over 350 languages. To work as an interpreter for this contract you will have to undergo the Interpreter Qualification Process for EOIR Interpreters. This type of work is on a freelance basis.

US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Contract Interpreter qualification process:
Lionbridge is the proud recipient of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/ Citizenship and Immigration Services contract for language interpretation services. This contract provides over-the-phone interpretation and face-to-face interpretation for the Office of Refugee, Asylum, and International Operations, Asylum Division (HQASM) to support asylum officers in the United States. To work as an interpreter for this contract you will have to undergo the Interpreter Qualification Process for DHS Interpreters. This type of work is on a freelance basis.
